I just had my baby on Dec. 21 2006. I just want to know how soon can I start losing weight and what exercises can I do?

Weight Watchers has a program that is for nursing mothers. You can start as early as 6 weeks from the birth. Other than that you should take it easy until 6 weeks are up. Your body needs this time to restore and heal--and you need this time to bond with your new baby. Other that that I would say you could go on light walks (no hill climb--just a flat terrain and a light pace).

After 6 weeks are over you can get some post-partums exercise DVDs or join a strollercise class---just look up stroller workout in a yahoo search and you'll find links.

Good Luck and please be patient and above all nurture your body--don't be too hard on it; it just accomplished the biggest task ever given it.

WELL SINCE YOU JUST HAD YOUR BABY SEX IS OUT OF THE QUESTION FOR NOW, THE CONTRACTING OF THE UTERUS FROM HAVING AN ORGASM IS WHAT MAKES THAT "POOCH" GO AWAY, BREST FEEDING IS ANOTHER DEFINITE FOR THAT TOO. AS FOR EXERCISES REMEMBER YOU JUST HAD A BABY AND YOUR BONES AND ORGANS NEED TIME TO PUT THEMSELVES BACK IN THERE ORIGINAL SPOTS, SO DO MILD THINGS FOR NOW LIKE TAKE YOUR BABY ON A NICE WALK EVERY DAY TO BUILD UP YOUR STAMINA , CAUSE OVER EXERTING YOUR SELF WITH CRAZY EXERCISING LIKE TOO MANY SIT UPS OR CRUNCHIES IS ONLY GOING TO BURN YOU OUT AND LEAVE YOU WITH NO ENERGY FOR THE BABY AND REMEMBER THERE ISN'T AN ACTUAL EXCESSIVE YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW FOR THAT IN PARTICULAR YOU NEED UTERUS CONTRACTIONS TO SHRINK YOUR UTERUS NOT MUSCLE DEFINITION. SO GIVE IT SOME TIME THEN CONTINUE TO DO THE SUGGESTED THINGS FOR THAT PESKY "BABY POOCH" AND THEN THROUGH IN SOME PILATE'S AND A HEALTHY DIET, AS FOR A TIME FRAME... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT ONLY YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR BODY IS READY. I HOPE THIS HELPED. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS

A lot of women do yoga before and after the delivery. Pilates as well. Aerobic exercises is also definitely good for you. I would suggest setting a reasonable goal for yourself. Remember, it took you 9 months to get to your post pregnancy weight, it may take you a little longer to loose it! Breast feeding also helps a lot, you loose about 500 calories a day breast feeding your child.

If you are breastfeeding, it will take you longer. Just push your baby in a stroller until you are stronger.
Then walking and aerobics are good.

Well if you breast feed that helps shrink the uterus faster. And do simple exercises. Like walking.
