We all have our faults... if I met you I would get on with you, but there are many Americans who dont get our sense of humour, people dont like it when they make a joke and get a blank reception. Saying that though there are many brits now who dont have humour take this girl who works in Levi shop in Bluewater! She was obviously working there and I saw she was taking out old jeans and throwing them on the floor in a big pile, I went passed and said (so she could here) People will do anything to get the right size! Well I thought it was worth at least a half smile but she said "I work here"... Riiiiiiiiiggggghhhhht!

I am a Britain and I love the U.S.A. The reason the majority are trying to pull you down, is because they are probably jealous of your standard of life. They didn't grow up during the 2nd world war, I DID. Without the U.S.A. as strong as we Brits were, and are, who knows what would have happened. My dad was in the royal air force, my uncles also fought in the war too. They were glad that we had our freinds here to help. Lennie fosh as for America being immoral, you must be joking, just take a look at Britain. The Americans are far more religious than here. The standard of education there is far and away better than here, Education here is abysmal. I know at one time everyone wanted their children educated here, not anymore. Good luck to you young man. Have a WONDERFUL NEW YEAR.

Generally It's not the individual, but the arrogant, paranoid attitude of its governing body. Which is passed on to most. Try being a tourist in a country, who are none WHITE ie Japanese, and listen to the so called americans then, espescially when they are 'to thick to recognise you as European. Those tourists to Japan were not only an insult to america but the human race. The racist comments was literally unbeleivable.
If america is so democratic, popular why is it hated so much, definitely not jealousy, remember Mai'lay unarmed old people women & children murdered (if they wern't gang raped) by good ol us F**king marines, and the list is endless, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, just to name a few. I'm old enough to remember 'drugged, pi***d up G.I.'s dragging young children off for "a bit of fun", during the Vietnam war.
Having seen "the best of the best" training in MY country, England, they are drugged up Steroid infested robots, that like Hollywood make beleive films chant Kill, kill, kill, and are so on edge and 'hyped' up, they generally blast away at any thing.
PS. A genuine question, " How come over just the past couple of months, I've heard that on entering A&E, ER to you americans, that their is a panic as regards insurance, not enough cover, dumped on street, or wait for correct ambulence; and even if insurence is sufficient, "do they/we need an appointment to see an ER doctor?", i've deliberately ended that on a quote.Funny though, the two incidences I've heard of, one ( to be polically correct) Afro-american couple, one Native American couple, never Whites?
So untill your country 'america' can accept others as equals and because their/our way is not your way, and treat them as people what ever race creed colour or faith. then as a nation you will be utterly despised. Unfortunately decent Americans get 'tarred' with the same brush.
You see England is a democratic country, I CAN & DO critise my government over its past, present and no doubt future ideas & actions, without fear of "Gestapo!" type tactics of the security services., and having to grovel an appology because I'd critised the Gov. 30 or so years earlier. Jane Fonda - Vietnam.
So much for your style of democracy, you can stick it. a ""POLICE STATE"" that you people SO deplore.

I don't hate Americans - in fact I have only met a couple and they were nice enough.
I don't know if it is a little to do with coments like 'we went to war for you'? I notice that in American films, there is this thing that the rest of the world should be grateful constantly - that is just bound to get people's backs up.
Also as another person said it may be our sense of humour misunderstood. When you have a President like you have got, your just begging for other countries to take the mickey.
Anyway, don't feel hated. These things go around, it'll be another country soon enough... Probably us (UK)!!

I live with Americans we have fun and pull each others legs. My American friend has the cheek to teach English! I come along just to correct and give him the right English to the class. Then sometimes my German first language wife teaches us all the correct English!
We are to much alike not to like each other. Sometimes the American way is to dominating and the English to passive.
But both or governments are to World dominating, but the British would be fairer and more liked.
But really speaking I think you have it wrong, Like most countries you always have the one you meet that no one can like. That blasted tourest who gives their country a bad name.

You will always find a minority that confuse their envy for hatred. I have been around around too long to generalise about nationalities. I was in the army with NATO and had the chance to meet and train with all the different nationalities. I found individuals who I liked and disliked from all countries. I find Americans to be hospitable and generous and have visited your country and experienced you in your back yard.
Unfortunately when it comes to foreign policy we have a problem. The USA is the biggest and richest guy in school and he is a bully. He will disregard the UN to impose his own will and go to war to get his own way. He practised chemical warfare against Vietnam with Agent Orange and denies liability for the deformed children still being born as a result.
At home you deny Global Warming is an issue to protect the almighty dollar and only sign up to anything beneficial for the USA.
Sorry have to go now -take care

It extends beyond Britain. Many other countries see the united states as being immoral due to our lack of respect for religion, laws, etc. We're seen as being crazy liberals to some people in other countries. However, I can't really say that it's that large of a number. I think the reason why any brit would hate america is because of Bush or because of misconceptions that they are given. So I wouldn't worry to much about being hated, lol.

Why ask a question when you answer it yourself?.....you state in your question ".....we've gone to war for you guys ...etc" The only reason you joined in both world wars (rather belatedly on BOTH occasions) was the love of your main God - the Dollar and, in the case of the second world war, because the Japanese showed you what were the realities of war, because you were supplying (sorry selling) the enemy their arms. To which your ultimate response was to drop the two A bombs when that nation was already defeated - but it must have made you feel better.
Nuff said?

Actually one of the things we most hate about Americans is the myth that you went to war for us.
USA DID NOT ENTER THE WAR UNTIL TWO YEARS OF BRITAIN FIGHTING ALONE WITH FRANCE, POLAND and OTHERS.
The USE DID NOT SAVE BRITAIN. BRITAIN SAVED ITSELF.
Actually America didn't enter the war until 1941. The war had started in 1939.
America went to war because it was in America's long-term strategic interests for both World Wars.
Britain had to surrender all of its gold to the US and agree to pay a massive loan- which will only be paid back this year- 50+ years after the event.
Furthermore the US has used the CIA to prop up countless brutal dictators who have created terrible social and poverty problems in resource rich developing nations, such as IRaq, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, Chile, Venezuala- the Marxist Narco-guerillas of South America were once on teyh CIA pay-roll.
We hate the US because it either forgets or dismisses its own role as a baddy. YES- the USA is a bad bad man. FACT.
We also hate you because you broke up our Empire and replaced it with a shittier version. Where we brought English language, culture, civil works, sanitation, railways, engineering, education- America has contributed what? Madonna, McDonalds, etc.
Democracy is always claimed as an American concept. It isn't- it's ancient Greek- Europeans for Christ's sake.
Americans are so unintelligent, uncultured and uneducated. They have little to no interes6t in affairs outside their own SUV friendly suburbs and care nothing about what their government does to poor people around the world.
Americans are greedy- you consume the most resources per capita on the planet and are the NUMBER ONE CONTRIBUTOR TO GLOBAL WARMING.
You disrespect older and wiser cultures especially English and our love of Monarchy.
We most especially hate Americans because they never take responsibility for their own actions and claim it is their God Given Constitutional right to do whatever they feel like and impose it on everyone else.
It has nothing to do with jealousy, petty accents/spelling or the mind-numbing drivel from Hollywood or your lowest common denominator cultural imperialism.

There's no real hate. Its just pretend. Most Yanks like Brits and vice versa. I really respect the Brits for their music and sense of humour (humor). British music owns all. British TV is tops too. If everything wasn't so small and the weather was better, it would be a perfect country.
Once Bush is gone, our image will improve. God Bless America (excluding Bush).
