Just Why is the world hooked on sex? When people lived in caves or whatever and people roamed around nude, it probably wasn't on people's minds all the time - the superior male got the women, that's all. Just like in today's wolves or stray dogs.
In society today, so many of our rituals, so many of our games, so much energy, so much ... is spent on the pursuit of that one act. Why do you think this is is so, and does it have to be this way? Was it made to be this way?

Most animals make a big deal of sniffing each other's behinds. Some make a big deal of picking lice out of each other's hair. Some insects make a big deal of eating their mates or their young. Most horned or antlered animals make a big deal of butting heads. So what's left for us humans to make a big deal of? Ever since Adam and Eve, we've had something to call our own. If not for that, we'd be sitting around twiddling our thumbs all day, watching apples fall off the trees.

Interestin question.... Sex might not have been that big a deal a several hundred years back but those days we did not have such things as marriage, concerns about being civilised and clutured, responsibility towards the society to make one self an example in a way that encourages good behaviour etc.. Just imagine what would happen if all the women around fall for the toughest, strongest and the sexiest guy? It is based more on factors such as the guy's menal capacity to take care of himself + loved ones, financial status (which is pretty sad but true), how lovable and cute he is for females (which is pretty new) etc.. Not all the women around look for a man who's tough and well-built have you seen some incredibly gorgeous women fall in love with these sissy-looking, really skinny guys? They may have a reason for that.. ok let's get back to the topic again... so much energy, money is spent on this act this is as same as the superior man got all the women back then.. The difference here is, today's women go for guys with money+looks or only money.. This is the reason why most of the males work hard on gaining what women expct them to have with the hope of being that "superior" man.. ( For one woman, today's superior man could be a vain, feminine kinda guy with lots of money, for another, he'd be a strong man with a good heart)

Why people put so much effort on pursuing sex.... the answer could be the trend created by the new- hip hop culture and x-rated movies... Applies for both males and females....

Sex is a big deal because it is the most beautiful thing that God has given us to express love and share intimacy. It is scientifically proven that people who have sex on a regular basis live longer, are healthier, and less stressed. It sounds like you are frustated for being pressured into sex. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but SEX is important!! It is also important that the one you share it with loves you and you love them!

Its a big deal when your in love, and in a commited relationship but nowadays its so commercialized that everyone does it just because they think its "cool". Our society makes sex a big deal and so we think that it is a big deal. Most women do not need to have sex, and the women who dare call me crazy are just exaggerating.

Propagation of the species. We are genetically "compelled." Something so powerful would, of course, be a large part of our culture...and it always has been.
