I'd have to say I'm a bit surprised.
I vote Rush. As some of the other Rush fans have stated...Rush is a far superior band, technically, lyrically, and provides the "rush" from their music that their name so righteously resembles.
That's not to say AC/DC doesn't provide some great tunes. However, they tend to lack any dynamics or lyrical content. So aside from the guitar riffs of their music, you're basically hearing the same thing over and over again. However it's fun to bang your head to!
Rush on the other hand has inspired a whole new genre of music of which many of the bands attribute their beginnings because of Rush. www.progarchives.com will provide you with a nearly endless list of bands that all reference Rush.
But honestly, we're comparing apples to oranges. I think you'd need to compare Rush to something in it's genre, like Dream Theater (of which I'd still choose Rush) and for AC/DC, I guess you'd need to compare them against Aerosmith or the like.

I have always disliked Rush. And always loved AC/DC.

AC/DC for sure. Just as an aside though, my brother can play some mean Rush on his Fender!!!!!

AC/DC = Common time signatures, generic sounding "hard rock" music that never changes in style.
Rush = Intricate, melodic and diverse library of music.
Rush, by far. Over 30 years as a band, all gold and/or platinum albums, still touring, still creating new studio albums, huge amounts of talent for only 3 people, incredible musicians, intelligent lyrics and down-to-Earth personalities.
Notice how most AC/DC fans can't even qualify their choice? :)
