I lived in Holland some years back.. Was homesick and ended up watching Westminster Today where they show parliament in session on the cable.
Can't remember the debate, it was 1999-2000. I was in tears from laughter. It was hilarious, they looked like overgrown university thespians. After i came back i never seen the House of Commons in the same light.
As for gaining wealth at the taxpayer's expense ... on the radio it was said that if those with houses worth near the million mark or more are a lot better off. The example given was Totteridge in North London. The council tax bill there for the top band is £2000+. Under the old rates system those households would pay anything from £4000 to £8000.

Well as a total cynic politically I can only see the words Gravy Train when talking about politicians. They vote themselves pay rises, to what ever level they think fit and expenses to cover the cost of assistants for out of office hours and to reduce their work load to nil.

With the war in Iraq being voted for by all but a few of our politicians the peoples safety is very far from their main aim, and ID cards are to control the law abiding public more rather than catch terrorists.

No professional politicians are a waste of space, and only into self agrandisment.

Well if Great Britain is anything like the U.S. then hell no they're not. I see political jackasses are problems on both sides of the Atlantic.

Be grateful you all get free health care and college educations though; I guess the benefit of living in a social democracy. In America we're poor dumb blind and stupid, but have got a kick *** military, and if you've got a half of a brain can get very rich.
