Some Americans are, many aren't.
Case in point. The majority of US citizens assume that when you say "American" you are referring to them. The US is A part of north america. Cubans, Brazillians and Peruvians are American too, but not in the way most assume.

Fortunately America is a big country. That allows Americans live as if America where the world. Otherwise Americans would feel like an oyster in its shell.

Hell yeah. To the point where it's annoying. Ask yourself why dont people learn another language?
