I want to put a white star on the black pickguard of my bass. I was planning on getting it painted on, but someone said it wouldn't work and suggested I cut out the star on a sheet of adhesive vinyl, where can I get this (in Australia)?

Most sign companies these days have machines that cut out the lettering to make the signs, as it is very much faster and accurate than hand painting.

They use a thin adhesive vinyl to do this. For what you need they might even give you a scrap, of you could have them cut you something really exotic.

A store that has home repair, flooring products. Here in the States I would go to a big hardware store or a Home Depot.
