You can take her in the shower at anytime. However, it is helpful if someone (husband or partner) can help you, as it is hard to get in and out of the shower with a wet baby. Or, you can put a bouncy seat next to the tub with a baby towel in it. That way, you can just put the baby in the seat while you are drying off.
You might like to bathe with the baby, too. You can just float her in the water between your legs while supporting her head; or sit cross-legged in the water with her lying in your lap; or sit her up with her back against your stomach. It is a lot easier to wash the baby this way, since you don't have to lean over the tub.

I wouldn't give a 4 month old a shower. You should continue to wash her in her kiddy tub until she's a bit older and stronger, then she'll be ready for an adult sized bathtub. I've taken my little ones into the shower with me a few times (usually when I'm rushing), but that was only when they were old enough to stand on their own.

we started taking my son in the shower as soon as he could hold his head up. Now at two he prefers showers with dad in the am rather than sitting in the tub for a bath

I am a mom to a 2 month old baby girl. You bath them when the umbilical cord falls off. It takes about 2 weeks for the umbilical cord to fall off. As soon as the baby is born you put rubbing alcohol on the umbilical cord about 2 times a day to help it dry up and fall off. Don't be alarmed if it bleeds a little bit but if there's puss you should call a doctor. The best way to bath a baby is in an infant tub with little soap and little water. Bath it just like you would bath your self. Face first and work your way down.

Because of the shock of the water coming out, you should wait until she is old enough to know that being in the shower is ok. We would hold our babies when they were six months old while showering and they loved it. It is hard to bathe them completely in the shower. I would try it now.

If you are old enough to have a baby, you should be old enough to shower that baby. [have to rephrase that question]
Age can have a wide range among babies. The baby should be able to stand on her own and move about in the same spot for a few minutes without getting impatient. Unlike in a tub, she won't be splashing in the water anymore and no more rubber duckies and other toys to float on the water.

My husband started taking our son in the shower with him at 2 months of age. It's easier for the dad to do it because they have bigger hands than us. We don't use this time to wash him though because a soapy baby is a slippery baby. My son loves the shower and sometimes it's the only way to stop him from crying.

As long as she can hold her head up on her own, take her in the shower. Great bonding time, but don't get upset if she doesn't like it. Some kids don't like the feel of a shower or water in their face.

as long as you are comfortable, and the baby doesn't hate it, you can shower them as soon as they can bathe completely. my daughter has been taking showers with me since she was an infant, and she loves water, and still prefers showers to baths
