I'm from Singapore and intending to go desaru anytime this week to surf. I'm intending to take a ferry from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Can anyone advise me on what to do next? And where do i go from there? Can any locals tell me of the condition of the waves there? Is it good for beginners?

the east coast of Malaysia is in monsoon now where Desaru included, but if any services of ferry from Changi going to Desaru then you can see for yourself the sea [ waves ] condition while on your way there. i don't think its suitable for the beginner unless you wanted to surfs to Vietnam or Taiwan !! haha !

alternatively you can try Pangkor, Penang n Langkawi, n Pangkor is the nearest to you. There are many hotels/resorts/chalets [ from 5 stars to budgeted ] available in Pangkor along those famous beaches like Pasir Bogak, Teluk Dalam, Teluk Nipah n Teluk Belanga. Foods are very cheap n shopping [for souvenir ] are great !

The same apply to Penang [ great food ] but may be a bit too far for you n Langkawi even much further.

i have been to Desaru once but never seem to like it simply because there are many much more better/beautiful beaches available in Malaysia ! anyway hope you have a wonderful holiday wherever you go ! Cheer !
