Should a 7th Grader be up untill 1:30 nearly once every week doing homework. Note: This is not because of Procrastination.

Not unless school doesn't start until 11:30 am. I needed 9.5 hours of sleep back then. I still need 9. Sleeping is important! You'll be terribly croggy and sleep-deprived if you sleep that late!

Maybe you need help on some subjects, I sure hope they'll be able to teach you. If you fall behind in one or more subjects then it can be terribly hard to recover. First make sure this isn't it.

Assuming you know the subjects:
Are they being annoying **** by asking you to do too many repetitions of the same thing?
If you can do problem x several times then what's the stupid point of doing it over and over for nothing?

Is it reading?, are they asking you to read too much?

You could ask your teachers in your good subjects to reduce your workload, maybe they'll understand.

Obviously you are not getting enough sleep. One of the ways of getting more sleep (besides sleeping earlier) is to reduce the time from wake-up to school.

Don't waste your time eating your breakfast at home! Eat it while walking to school or in 1st period, you need all the sleep you can get. Just make sure you eat breakfast cause you need it.
If you walk to school find all the shortcuts and quickest way possible to get to school to free up more time for sleeping. Walk faster. (don't run, that'll take way too much energy, makes little difference and you'll get tired)
I used to use no less than three between-the-block alleyways and walking diagonally across a 800 foot field to get to school faster (so I could sleep more)
I walked across the field snow or shine, using the football posts and bleachers to keep angle so come up to the front door in a straight line (and mind you this field was flat and elevated so there was no other visible landmarks whatsoever) But that saved a few minutes every day..
If you time with your watch then you can know the maximum time you can leave and still barely be late!

Don't do homework late at night.

Do it on the subway (or bus), while eating breakfast, during lunch, in double lunch (if you have a free period right next to lunch), in other teachers' classes, in the same class you're supposed to hand it at, hand it in late, wait until the weekend to do it, don't do it at all, pick and choose what to do..
I did all that! (I never cheated)

I used to always look at my schedule of what to do at night, 8-9 periods in a day, and I was like alright!, annoying/hard subject Spanish is after lunch, cross that out, menial English also after lunch, cross that out too, Science is easy, I can do that on the bus, cross that out, Computers always has no homework, Health has no homework this week, Social Studies, easy, I can do that in Health..lol

And in the end there was only like two homeworks that I had to do that night, P

Having a hard homework due first period is not good..

Teachers don't like it if you do homework from other subjects in their classes though, so hide it in your 3-ring binder and flip the page when they're not looking. One teacher might not like it if you do their *own* homeworks in class. But some couldn't care less. So know the teacher.

Last resort, do as little homework as possible, if you get high grades in class and all the tests then the worst they can give you is a C. A 7th grader should have a life.

No. Really, rework your schedule immediately. You are going through puberty and maturity and being up to 1:30 is no way to treat the situation. Especially now...

hypocrite alert, I'm up at around 1:40 now and I'm only 4 grades above you..

But still, very unhealthy to stay up past 10 or sleep <7 hours espesh as a 7th grader.

Why are you up until 1:30? When do you start your homework? Is it the same subject that is keeping you up so late? Even if you stay up until 1;30, how are you scoring on this homework? I ask that because, if you're staying up so late but successfully completing the homework, maybe you can talk to the teacher about reducing the number of assignments you do, especially if it's in math. If you can prove you can do the assignment in 20 questions, do you really need to do 40?

Yea. I think 1:30 is too late to stay up doing homework on a
school nite. I don't understand why so much homework is
given out. Why can't they do the majority of the studies at
school and just do review work at home. Too much homework puts a strain on the whole family.

It depends. Do you stop every now and then while doing your homework? Or do you straight out keep working without stopping all the way until 1:30 A.M.?

It is absolutely too late. I have that situation sometimes, but that IS because of procrastination AND I'm in high school.

Yep it is too late. it is not healthy at that age for one, and for the other, what would it be yrs from now, during graduate studies? sleeping once a week? Come on now

No, that's pretty ridiculous. You should talk to the PTA or something.
