No way.Cal Ripken almost seemed naive about the rampant use of drugs in Baseball. Tony Gywnn is only guilty of having too many desserts in his career.

There is as much evidence that Ripken and Gwynn used banned substances as there is that McGwire used them.

And there's this: Gwynn was quoted yesterday as saying that EVERYBODY in baseball knew there were players using steroids. All the players knew, the managers and coaches knew and the owners knew.

Should Ripken and Gwynn be kept out of the hall for being accomplices?

NO, i can't believe this is even being speculated.
both guys are class acts and the definition of a true baseball player.
Ripken never missed a day, Gwynn never left the Pads for more $$$ (though he very well could have) and was thisclose to batting .400 if not for the baseball strike. And not to mention, they both played their hearts out and respected the game like it should be.
You can't find a pair of players better than that in this era.

You should not even disgrace their names by asking such a stupid question. Cal Ripken And Tony Gwynn were the ambassoders of baseball in their era. They were the last of the great pasttime players. Flash, hype, and steroids rule the sport now.

If there is two guys who of all the guys that I think were not guilty of using steroids it was those two. Two very stand up guys, two of the rare guys that make baseball a great sport.. and its the decline of these type of dedicated, hard-working, team-oriented and loyal players that have made baseball become less than entertaining over the last 8-10 years.

In short: no

NO and anyone who thinks so is crazy. These two athletes were as pure as the game could have got. The represented everything that was and is great about the greatest sport on earth. They showed up everyday or most days in Gwynn's case and OMG SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS for their fans and then went out and gave you a great show of talent and through it all remained humble even though they had a reason to be cocky.

MY HAT IS OFF TO THESE TWO GREAT MEN WHO DESERVINGLY WERE SELECTED TO THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME. NO ONE IN THIS DAY AND AGE IS MORE DESERVING THAN THESE TWO.

I just wish I wasn't here in Iraq cause I had been planning a trip to Cooperstown for 6 years to see Cal get inducted.

No. Have you seen Tony Gwynn? And Cal never had roid rage syndrome, which is usually a dead giveaway.

Dude, take a look at them. There is no way in hell they were, Gwynn was too fat and Ripken was too skinny. Besides, neither of them needed too.

Personally, I really don't think that happened to be the case for Gwynn and Ripken. I believe they were honest ball players who hustled and played the game right. I think the way they carried themselves speaks for them and their status as positive role models for younger athletes.
