(97)YZ 250- My bike grinds and doesnt go into gear and my shift forks are not bent or damaged . I bought new ones and it still does it. What could it be?

Check for a wore out clutch basket.

First check your oil level, a wet clutch on a YZ will grab if your oil level is too high,, if that is OK i would check your clutch adjustment
wind all your cable adjusters back then adjust your clutch at the motor ,do it up till it touches then back quarter of a turn ,then you can adjust your cable at the bottom, leaving about 1mm clearance at the lever, then you can do any final adjustment at the lever,make sure your cable is free and lubricated, if it still doesn't work then your clutch plates may be stuck together from lack of use, say, if you haven't ridden it since last summer, then you've got to dismantle clutch, clean, and lube, then put back together .

Clutch not disengaging, does it go into gear when the bikes not running, might have to rock it a little while trying.
