I am 64.
My parents bought private driver education because school classes were full which took 6 weeks. They and the instructor (who lived on the route to school) monitored my driving and corrected me.
Before I graduated college I rolled a VW at 20 miles per hour without harm, completely spun out twice on icy curves and kept the car under control, blew a front tire at 55 with 4 people in the car and a canoe on the roof and brought it to a controlled stop.
I had no accidents and one ticket from 1980 to 2006
Two weeks ago, driving someone else's Ford Expedition at 50mph around a curve, the big pickup in front of me changed lanes while accelerating on wet 4 lane Interstate, spun out and came across the lanes backwards and took out the passenger door and window of a small sedan ahead of me. I stopped without hitting the truck or sedan and without any cars behind hitting me.
I am still learning.
