I read up, and found this:
What is the treatment for preeclampsia?
If you have preeclampsia, delivery of the baby is the best way to protect both you and your baby. This isn't always possible, because it may be too early for the baby to live outside of the womb.

If delivery isn't possible because it's too early in your pregnancy, steps can be taken to manage the preeclampsia until the baby can be delivered. These steps include making your blood pressure drop, with bed-rest or medicines, and keeping a close eye on you and your baby. In some cases, hospitalization may be necessary.

Your doctor might tell you to take aspirin or extra calcium to prevent preeclampsia. Your doctor might also tell you to lie on your left side while you are resting. This will improve blood flow and take weight off your large blood vessels. Many doctors give magnesium sulfate to their patients during labor and for a few days afterward to help prevent eclampsia. Talk to your doctor about these things.

I developed toxemia at 37 weeks & 4 days. The doctor told me bed rest. My BP wouldn't come down, and I started getting light-headed, my ankles stayed swollen, and they found protein in my urine, so they decided to induce me. I ended up having a C-section at 4 cm because he was breech.

I had pre-eclampsia with both my daughters. Try not to be scared. I know it is really alarming when they tell you about it. It is important to follow all of your doctors instructions. She/He knows your pregnancy and you better than any of us here online does, and will be monitering you closely for any complications. Some people need monitored, some rest, some total bedrest, some more serious medical intervention. Both my pregnancies made it to full term, but I was on complete bedrest with one for several months. Just because one person has things go well, and others have more serious problems, doesnt mean you will or wont. Try to put things into fair perspective. Watch for changes in your overall health. Call the office when you are worried or concerned or have a question. Thats what they are there for. I am sure the doctor spoke about symptoms or watching for certain problems. Do follow their advise, and maybe keep a journal for any questions or symptoms you have. I was advised to lower salt in take, keep feet elevated as much as possible, among other things. Not always easy to do... but I did the best I could each day to follow their advise. Keep doctors phone number with you, along with cell phone, just in case you are out and need to call with concerns. Make sure to get reasonable rest, drink and eat well, and try to keep stress at bay when you can. I know that sounds hard right now- but you can do it. I wish you the best. Make sure if you have more questions about preeclampsia ot ask your doctor. And if reading online about it, make sure you are reading from reputable medical sites. Its easy to get misinformation about this online.

I have never had it personally ( you're probably wondering why the hell is she answering then) However since they caught it and it is only pre-eclampsia they will monitor you and most likely schedule you for a c-section and take all the precautions so it doesn't turn into eclampsia most likely bed rest and all of that. Good news in almost all cases pre-eclampsia goes away after the pregnancy is over with no lasting effects to you or your bundle of Joy. I wish you the best of luck I know how scary it can be they were worried I might have it at my last appointment ( gonna pop any day ). So again good luck and follow doctors advice and research it. What To Expect When You're Expecting is an amazing book that talks about it more.

I had Pre-eclampsia with my pregnancy and kidney stones on top of that. I was a mess. I developed Pre-eclampsia just before delivery, and I had to stay in the hospital a few extra days until they got my blood pressure under control. They did have me lay on my left side to keep my blood pressure down. My mom also had Pre-eclampsia and they decided to deliver me early. It just depends on how early your diagnosed with it. The only cure for Pre-eclampsia is delivery
