Kansas City is actually two cities, one is in Kansas and one is in Missouri...for the record.
Also, we do NOT get "one tornado a year" that is ridiculous. Someone needs to stop taking Wizard of Oz so seriously. I mean, do you think there are talking scarecrows too? LOL
I have lived here for 29 years and like some others said, it is nice weather, and plenty of things to do on the Missouri side, and great suburbs to raise a family on the Kansas side.

I love it here! It is really starting to boom! We are currently building an arena downtown and are looking at Hockey and Basketball teams. I live in a great loft downtown! We have a lot of great restaurants and bars! The nightlife is great! Easy to meet people. Reasonable cost of living and really a lot to do! If you like the outdoors we have four different disc golf courses. We are only 3-4 hours away from a great lake and rivers for canoe trips and stuff! If you are a art fan we have a great museum and downtown Art district. First Fridays from Spring into fall all the art galleries are free and you can walk around with cocktails. Street performers are out too! The jazz district is really cool and we have the ***** Baseball hall of fame! Great Bar-be-Que, and the best Jazz and Blues festival ever! The airport rocks because we have three separate terminals which make it so easy to travel! Arrive an hour before domestic flights and an hour and a half before international! We are conveniently located for travel too! Only four hours from Cancun, 30 minutes from Chicago and on Southwest its $100 round-trip! Any more questions let me know!

I lived in Kansas City for 20 years, and it really is a beautiul place. The only thing I missed were a view of the mountains. I am living in So. Cal. now and can see my mountains every day.

My friend is a doctor there. He already likes the style of living there. Lower cost than California. However, there is tornado there once a year. Be careful!
Though cost of living is higher in California, I would rather stick it there. Though cost of housing is a lot of difference, I still wont live other there.
