As soon as I can afford it, I am getting a breast reduction. I am in too much pain. My question is, how do I pick out a good, reliable surgeon? What steps do I need to take or questions do I need to ask in order to find a capable, competent and reliable surgeon?

You can get covered by insurance. Several plastic surgery sites are a good place to start (see if they are covered under your insurance). Talk to your family doctor for a recommendation. Some will cover 100% of the cost, and some will cover less than that.

http://www.breasthealthonline.com can also help you find a surgeon. They have a section for PS's in certain areas/states. If you are in Northern Virginia I've got a great one for you (and I hope he's under your insurance!).

See at least THREE plastic surgeons before choosing who you want to go with. That site I posted has a list of questions you can ask him/her.

You will not regret having a BR, as its one of the surgeries that has the most satisfaction from those who had that surgery done to them.

First do you know anyone who has had plastic surgery? If you do then ask them how they liked their surgeon. Next you can ask your regular doc for a good recommendation. Third do a search on the internet for docs in your area and read up on your doc.

Check with the American Medical Association. Also, word of mouth can be good. Ask around from other people in your area. Good Luck

Breast Reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
