Hi Gloria,
In order to avoid all those itsy bitsy bumps and grazes, firstly, during shower, ensure that your legs are wet/damped by soaking them for at least 10 - 20 minutes to soften up the skin surrounding the legs as well as the hair. If possible, shave only after u have shampooed your hair, soaped the rest of your body.
Next, apply soap on your legs and make sure they lather. You might want to get those soap free shower gel which wont dry your skin out and cause itching as shaving removes a thin layer of dead skin from the surface of your legs. Soap free shower gel would be better than those typical shaving cream as your mom might find out about it. Get those shower gel with tea tree/mint ingredient to sooth your legs while shaving them.
Lastly, dry yourself and apply good moisturizer on your legs and bravo, no sweat anymore :) All the best!

You should have waited as long as you could stand the fuzzy hair. Now U have to shave all the time. Use Very warm water and short strokes. Buy the BEST razor you can. Clean your skin and use the very best shave soap/foam. Not necessarily fem type. Experiment, then consider pulling your skin tight with your free hand then stroke gently yet decidely with the razor hand. Repeat procedure if U need to. I do not know how thick your hair is, but being patient and going slow is best. And do not do it in a cold room. After the shower or IN the shower for girls is best. My G/F does it this way.Good shaving. Throw the shaver after 5 uses or less.

13-14 is a fine age to start shaving, go to the drug store and get soem shaving cream and a good razor, at least 2 blades, if not three. Use a thin layer of shave cream and make long, slow strokes (from the to pf the ankle to the knee), rinse the rasor between each stroke, and repeat. Oly use a razor for 3-4 shaves, it will get dull and lead to more rashes. Be careful around knees and ankles, they are easy to cut. Use an unscented lotion after you shave to help protect against more razor burn. And if you have any inflamed areas form previous shavings, don't re-shave until they are healed. Good luck!

My daughter got lots of nicks and bumps until she started using the Quattro. It's pretty expensive, but worth it.
Also, don't shave your legs the first thing after you get in the shower. Give the skin time to soften up from the water and steam, then use some shaving cream with aloe after your legs are wet.
Actually, if you use a good razor with a triple blade and an aloe strip, you can use Dove soap, if you lather it up really well.
Don't use those cheap double edged disposable razors...they will cut the heck out of your legs!!

couple things
first and most important, soap is your mortal enemy when shaving. always use a shaving cream. a really good one is ambrosia by lush (www.lush.com) or even just a can of foamy stuff will help. but seriously, no soap.
as for technique, long, smooth strokes, from ankle to knee. don't rush. turn the blade side to side for knees so you get all the angles.
and always use a sharp razor, don't recycle more than twice. when a razor gets dull, it's more likely to snag your skin, which will cut.
always follow with a good quality lotion, so your legs don't dry out. dry legs will cut easier.
hope this helps! and you're not too young, i started at 11 :-p

Use a good shaving cream instead of soap, which can dry your skin. Always use a good, clean razor and use long strokes when shaving, don't use short strokes. Also, always shave in the direction of the hair growth.

I've found a possible fix for the two problems you mentioned. After my shower and before I'm totally dry, I lather up my legs with hand lotion, then I shave. My legs aren't nicked up looking, because it is so easy to shave and I don't get those bumps anymore.

shave in the shower and put some shaving cream on your legs and shave upwards not downwards, then take it section by section and slowly so you dont cut your self, i reccomend you use a venus razor those work great, and the vibrating ones help make the skin to stay real smooth.
