I heated it up and took large wads of paper towels so I didnt burn myself. I rubbed inward as not to spread it out and after about 5 wads I got it mostly off. There was still a thin film so I put glass cleaner (windex like) on a clean dish towel and rubbed with that and it came off.
Since the stove is new I found cleaning cream in the drawer - today - after the fact. I will give it a good once over. But today all is well.
Personally I think warming it up a little - i turned it on and off to just warm it - and wiping with the paper towels and then cleaning with window cleaner and cream is the easiest way and least likely to damage the cook top.

That depends. If it is thin plastic like that from a bread bag, just remove the excess by hand and burn the rest off. It will smell but won't take to long to be gone. If it is the hard plastic like that of a milk carton, when it cools, you should be able to just chip it off.

If you have an electric stove the head will eventually burn it right off. It won't smell all that great, but it will melt off completely in time.

in case you decrease off as lots plastic as you're you able to would desire to easily turn the burner on and soften and burn something off yet this could reason a super form of smoke and probable flames. in case you place the burner interior the BBQ outdoors you may burn the plastic off with out the smoke filling up your place.

Keep the flame going until the whole plastic is burnt out.

likely (with the power off) you can remove the burner (if metal types) and then soak and scrub... no problem, if it's a flat top range, Sears has the cleaner for them.

I've done this before myself. I waited until it completely hardened on there, and I took a metal spatula and scraped it off. Could use a knife or something to that effect.
