It's true, Mexicans are part Amerindian and European, but most Americans dont realize they themselves are mongrels too, as they use the word. They say that in the south a large portion of the population shares black ancestors. In the North, there is hardly anyone who doesnt have a Jewish relative. In the West, Mexicans, Indians and Europeans all shared the sack. I dare to say that not even 1/10 of the people in this country is purely white, if anything the only pure white people I know are from Ireland and Scandinavia, considering the Jewish diaspora that existed throughout Continental Europe. Or is this history conveniently forgetten?

Most Americans? Who have you been talking to? I have never heard anyone call Mexicans mongrels. But I live in New England, so we are a bit removed from any controversy involving Mexico border disputations or immigration or the racism that goes on in the southernmost states toward Mexicans.
You are probably correct about the mixed blood part, but it comes off a little harsh. Probably fewer people than you realise think about such things. Maybe you ought to visit other parts of the country and see for yourself that we're not all a bunch of bigots or xenophobic.

You are most likely a mongrel as well. The reason being that tribes in europe were nomadic and traveled miles into other countries. We found out some of our ancestors were from Germany and traveled all the way to Whales. So no one can say they are 100% of any particular race or that their ancestors came from any one particular place. I am also of Mexican descent and I find your remark highly offensive. I have never heard of Mexicans being called mongrels.

I love mexican culture, food and easy lifestyle, but I think it's not faire to always throw the rock to the Anglo-saxons in regard of racism.
Mexicans are certainly mixed with spanish and indians, even germans sometime.
I think most Mexicans neglect their Indian side too much to think they are all castilliano white. When a Mexican see an dark hair brazilin,Argentinian, a Greek or Lebanese, they are quickly ready to cpmsider them as brother and accept them because they look Latin or Mexican, even though most of those nation see Mexicans as inferior to therm.
Meanwhile with black people, phillipino, Dominican it's a total different situation.Mexicans like to make racist remarks against blacks and even Dominican mulatto because of their kinky hairs. This can lead to racial fight, especially when the Mexican do the remark to a Dominican in Spanish, while thinking the dark skin Dominican might be African American english. This kind of situation happen very often.
Mexicans and central Americans would consider them self superior to any darker skin people even though they are better educated than them.

Well with me being a Mexican-American I have never met an Americans that calls my race mongrels. However I have been living here my entire life and the answer is very simple. "White is right." I don't agree with this, but its what ignorant white people use to belittle everybody else.

I beg to differ. Most Americans do NOT!! I have never heard that term before about Hispanics. And if I did, I would ignore them.
Here's a suggestion. Ignore the ignorance and embrace "friends". It makes it easier to know not everyone is a bigot.
Peace.

I grew up around a lot of hispanic people and NEVER heard someone use the term 'mongrel'.
I'm disgusted that people would consider them as such.

It become no longer constantly an amicable relationship. it ought to look that way understand, via fact the grandchildren of the immigrants are one hundred% American and combine with no difficulty with all white human beings in ny. in spite of the shown fact that, the 1st era of immigrants have been fiercely adversarial to a minimum of one yet another...for a kind of motives. opposition for scare jobs, housing, Church-Parish administration, and so on. The Irish did no longer like the Italians and regarded down on them. They have been non-English speaking and regarded distinctive. Swarthy and generally darkish-olive skinned, they have been seen "darkish white." In turn, the Italians seen the Irish low classification, shanty , very nasty and all to be drunks. via fact the youngsters of immigrants grew, the Irish ladies enjoyed the best-looking darkish-haired Italian boys and the Italian adult males stumbled on the blue eyed and blonde Irish beauties the two impossible to stand as much as. Many inter-married and created what are substantially perceived via fact the excellent looking offspring, a million/2 Italian and a million/2 Irish and in many cases very eye-catching ! on the instant, we see them as loving one yet another and close. in spite of the shown fact that, that become some distance from fact. in basic terms ask your grandparents...they have been opponents and arch-enemies. faith performed somewhat, too. the two communities have been Catholics and shared comparable values and eu way of existence.
