John Reid is a Stalinist communist. When he says Protect the public, he means by enslaving them in an electronic web of total surveillance and control. So in his own mind I am sure that he is totally sincere.

However his version of 'protect the public' and mine are two totally different things. I would like to know who will protect the public from the Government?

Reid is about as sincere as Bliar, Prescott, Brown and Beckett.
Unfortunately that means he is just another self seeking politician who is displaying incompetence beyond the belief of the long suffering population.
Its time for change of government - but a change to what?
The answer to your question is NO.

He really does want to protect us. I do believe that.

On the other hand, the policies of introducing id cards and banning protests is hardly the best way to go about things.

Hitler thought that he was helping the Germans, and look where that got him.
