I think that the Giants will do well this year too.
I have heard a lot of people say that their hitting won't be too good this year but I disagree. With Dave Roberts, Omar and Aurilia as the top of the batting order, the Giants should have no problem getting men on base. Following that, Bonds and Durham (and further down in the order, Winn and Molina) should be able to get the job done. The one spot in the batting order that looks the weakest is Feliz. Sure, he hits 20-25 home runs a year, but his average is miserable and it seems like the only pitch he can hit is the fastball. I think the Giants success this year will depend a lot on Feliz.
The bench looks good with Klesko, Sweeney, and some of the younger players there when the old guys need a day off.
Another thing that will heavily affect the Giant's season is whether or not they have a closer who can shut down opposing hitters at the end of the game. I think Benitez is done as a closer and with the recent signing of Ortiz, it looks like Johnathan Sanchez might become the closer.
The rest of the pitching staff looks good. The rotation is pretty good, but the bullpen could use an extra arm (or maybe not, now that Alou's not here to use 5 relievers a game). As usual, defense is superb.
I think Sanchez will do a good job if he does become the closer. He showed promise last year as a starter at the end of the season. I think Feliz is the big iffie. If he does well, the GIants do well. If not, either someone's going to have to step up, or the Giants are going to miss the playoffs again.

They are a .500 ball club no matter how you look at it. Their biggest mistake and the worst off season signing of any team was the signing of Bonds. The Giants probably would be a contending team if they would have used the money that Bonds is getting for other players. In addition if every Giant fan is a Bonds fan he has faked injuries for the past 3 years and who else could your team have had in those three years. I follow the Giants and have always been a Mays fan but look how your team finished the last 3 years.

particular, they are toast. i think of the Barry Bonds signing replaced into the best sign that this team isn't severe approximately triumphing. the only reason that Bonds replaced into signed is by using the fact the abode run checklist chase will positioned butts interior the seats. The commencing pitching is hassle-free, yet a commencing lineup of place gamers that includes Barry Bonds, prosperous Aurilia, Ryan Klesko, and Omar Vizquel at this degree of their careers, does not have a prayer.

Bochy is definitely a great manager, I like that move a lot. They got some championship caliber role players added to the mix too. (Klesko, Molina, Roberts) I like their chances of making the palyoffs. They for sure better do it this year or next though, because their position players ain't getting any younger!

Zito is the only worthy player at this point. I agree the new management might create a buzz this year but the only buzz you should be hearing about the Giants is when Barry somehow breaks the HR record with a huge asterisk next to the number.

I totally agree with you. And now with Ortiz in the mix it should be interesting. He hasn't had much luck when he left us. I hope he gets back to 2002 form.
