Get a telescope ! If you want to be in a bike club you would purchase a bicycle. Right? Then subscribe to the astronomy magazines. Then maybe goto a planetarium,( the Griffith Park Obsevatory just had a MAJOR makeover in LA,CA.) Then do what ALL the other science and space dudes DO !!! Get into your new hobby. Maybe could get a JOB out of your new found passion.

"Astronomer" is the correct term. Do well in high school math, take lots of physics, math, statistics, astronomy and chemistry courses in college. Join a junior astronomer's club.
