Yah, i'm trying to learn how to playing standing up rather then sitting on a chair. But since i have small hands, its makes it harder to play chords the closer the chord is to the guitar body. Like if i try to play a chord located right where the neck and body connect its hard to play the chord standing up. Does that make sense?
Do you have any suggestions thatw ill help me out when playing songs standing up.

Tighten the strap so that the guitar is higher against your body. This will allow more flexibility for the fret hand and more control over chord playability. It will also help to eliminate buzzing that occurs when you can't quite hit the chord right

Well, you have a guitar strap right? [You know, the one that goes over your shoulders so the guitar doesn't fall while you're standing?] Well yeah.

When you play those high-neck chords, I'd say lift up your guitar to maybe shoulder height or at least a little higher than the normal height of the guitar when you just stand normally. (Do I make sense there?)

BTW this is for the electric guitars and sorts. Not the acoustics ('cause well, it's a little hard to get those frets on the high part of the neck.) because of that one cut underneath the neck that allows you to put your hand on the higher frets more easily.

Just practice it a lot.......and when you're playing tricky chords, try to use the hand that is on the guitar neck to angle the guitar towards you a bit, so you can see the strings better. Also, adjust your strap so it's a little shorter at first....then start adjusting it back down a little at a time while you get more used to playing standing up.

I've seen some very good answers, but I have the only definitive answer. Raise only the neck, not the whole guitar, so that your fingers are more horizontal. This is the way classical guitarists play, because their music is so demanding.
I broke my wrist a few years ago and thought I would never play again. Now I play with the neck up.

im a intermediate guitar participant and that i discover guitar hero video games extra complex than gambling the truly guitar. for one, you've six strings on a guitar, in which as the sport has five buttons. the sport honestly has you relocating your finger extra whilst you play unmarried notes than honestly gambling truly guitar. in which a observe on a truly guitar would have you ever simply fretting a reduce or higer string. the sport makes you be anxious a button that extra. i love gambling chords at the recreation. in that, it does suppose like your honestly gambling chords. an extra factor is that you just dont quite must seem at a display while gambling a truly guitar. so that you do want extra hand eye cordination to play the sport. the songs within the recreation are installed beautiful well. its now not simply random button presses, the sport does have repeatable styles. its defintely amusing. its simply simpler to play truly guitar.

Not only do you want the guitar high up on your body, try aiming the neck at about a 45 degree angle upwards. This has helped me quite a bit . And also, you don't say if your guitar has a cutaway at the neck or not.
Just keep practising those two things.

For starters, use a strap... that would be the only reason you would have difficulty with playing closer to the body and not the fret board... Lol but seriously... do you use a strap?

Make the strap tighter. That should help. Or get a smaller and lighter guitar.

Tighten your strap so you can reach the whole neck. If your guitar is to low, your bending your wrist to much to reach the notes.
