How can we automate Microsoft Excel using C++/CLI. Is "Adding refernce" the only way to do it? I wanted to write a generic wrapper class for this.

If you are thinking about inserting the reference into Excel object in your C++ project, then you can not access Excel object.
Did you tried the VBA of Excel?
It is simple, easy to learn

Turn on your macro recorder. Carefully execute all of the steps needed to do this. Then turn off your macro recorder. Done. To prove that it works, put the data back the way it was, and then simply run the macro you recorded. The steps will be done for you, automatically.
