Actually, R&B is still way more popular than hip hop. The audience is wider for R&B (a lot more older people listen to R&B than hip hop). You're probably just hanging around people that like and listen to hip hop more. I am in that position, and sometimes it gets a little redundant.

I like RnB better...but I think people like hip hop better because it gives people something more to dance to..I like to dance.but Im more into what the person is saying and if the person has talent..If the person has no talent..Why am I going to spend money on their cd...I do feel that RnB is coming back though..With people like Robin Thicke in the game..Justin bringing sexy back..Corinne Bailey Rae from the UK with such a beautiful voice..and Mary J. Blige being unstoppable.and Jo Jo being back...people are all over the place now...also Omarion is back and Chris Brown is amazing..and Michael Jackson is making a comeback ..so I think this year is really going to be big...Yes I know Michael is pop..I had to throw him in there..he's my favorite artist of all time..lol

It just depends some songs are straight up hip hop and and some are straight up r&b, it just depends for instance Snoop Dogg's hip/hop classic Drop It Like It's Hot is amazing and John Legend dominates with his r&b sounds and together they make and amazing mix of the two with the song I Can Change

because that is what a lot of people want - Whats wrong with blues, jazz, classic rock or just classic music? To me nothing but some folks like listening to HH - some may feel that if they dont listen to it, then their friends may think they are not cool.

its the popular music, you know how high school gets, with peer pressure...
if not, there would be way more (younger) RnB listeners... it sounds nice though... :)

Well, for starters R&B is whiney sounding where hip hop is music stealing, annoying, talentless dribble. In short, they both suck @55.
