I heard this on the radio today. How can you suppot the troops and not the war while all the time the soldiers are there fighting and supporting the war effort. Remember Viet Nam=58000 lives and WW2= 52000 lives -- and the worst of the worst of all wars the horrible Civil War 630000 lives lost and for what ?

An army is supposed to be at the service of the elected government, it is not the troops' decision to fight a specific war , whilst you can disagree with the government decision it is only fair to support the troops that are doing the job they are assigned and paid to do. It is possible to see the troops as a tool used by a government to achieve a goal whatever it may be, the tool is not responsible for the action it is only an instrument, in this particular case I really feel for the soldiers sent to fight and die for such a wrong cause.

The troops follow orders. They have to do as they are told.

Our responsibility is to make sure they have a leader who understands and appreciates their sacrifices.
When you decide to send your troops into a country they need total support from the administration asking them to risk their lives.
Do you recall the shitty bullet proof vests our officials sent to Iraq for our troops?
Why weren't the borders secure immediately?
Did they REALLY not know there would be insurgents?
Come On...!!!
What was President Bush's exit strategy from the beginning?
Most every American citizen appreciates the honor and pride and ability of our Armed Forces!
It just becomes infuriating when the very people who are in the position to call on them are corrupt and willing to let them lose their lives in vain!!
It only took like 42 days the first time we fought against Iraq and now we have been there what....3 years?! We should have been better prepared.......!!
The TROOPS DESERVE IT!!!

Honestly the thing that scares me is if we were really so unprepared or illprepared against a threat like Iraq.........what about Iran? Or North Korea? This debacle in Iraq makes us look impotent to the rest of the world!!!
I'm pretty sure I remember our country doing alot of chest thumping and saying this would be an easy victory!!
Well.......?

It's the fashionable thing to say to make one feel better about their views. To me, it is nothing more than wordplay. But here in America, we pride ourselves on being able to have differing views, so that's just how it goes. Me? I support the troops and their mission. They are away from home and loved ones doing a terribly difficult job and deserve every kindness and show of support we can possibly muster for them.

A young man may join the military to support a cause but once he is under fire, his survival and the survival of those around him are his paramount concerns. The politics of the war are not.

I support the men that stand up for what they think is right regardless of their cause. I needn't support the cause to support them.

Bush says his request for increased troops has changed because conditions of the war have changed. Bush will never understand the most profound change that occurs in war. That is the change from recruit to combat infantryman.

We went to war for reasons I have not seen proof of. People claim there is proof but they have never given me information or web pages that support there claims, they just say the liberal media covered it up. So we went to war based on a lie and invaded a country for unknown reasons. I am against that.

People are over there dying, the soldiers had nothing to do with us going to war. Most of them are over there trying to help these people and make things tolerable after there leader was ousted and terrorists have virtually taken over there country. Even if we went there for bad reasons, the soldiers are trying to help, it is not there fault we invaded the country, and you have to give them what they need to survive and help those around them.

Those lives mean you are still here and free to pose your question.
If you want to support the troops you should enlist this way you would know that there are people sitting in front of their pc's thinking about your sacrifice and how grateful we are that you are doing your part to keep us free.

Send letters, cards, cookies/mail/toiletries/personal items/
socks. Whatever they need and don't have time to wash.
Send reconditioned laptops/ cell phones/ cameras/
The list is endless. Send to a neighbor,s company, or check around to find an active company in Iraq--or deployed anywhere
for that matter.

War accomplishes nothing, lost a father to Korea, a brother to Nam, but we have to support our troops and in this case, after being to the middle east myself, you have to see it to believe it, they are soooooooooo very different than us, doesn't make em wrong, just different.
I will never support any war for obvious reasons, but always will support the troops...god bless them all.
