Why not rechargeable ones? I hate buying batteries for my baby swing. Why don't they make one that you can just plug in? I don't see the harm...it's not like I'm going to plug the swing in outside in the rain or anything.

How can it injure the baby? I'm not going to wrap the cord around it's neck or plug him in and throw him in the bath.....WHAT'S SO FLIPPING WRONG WITH MAKING A PLUG-IN SWING???

Baby Swings That Plug In

Have you ever read the warning label on hair dryers? It says, "Do not use in shower". Common sense is so lacking in this world, and the manufacturers want to keep their butt covered. No wires, no plugs, no problems. As long as it goes back and forth with little effort, they are not going to change how they do things. Not to mention, the amount of current that comes out of the wall outlet is WAY more than what the swing would need. This compounds the safety issues.

I know it would be awesome for moms to just plug it in and let it go for hours on end, but it is truly better to be safe than sorry. You can either buy rechargeable batteries, or try to find a windup swing (although these only last about fifteen minutes...save on batteries, lose on inconvenience). Sorry to say, but the manufacturers (and common sense...or rather the lack thereof) has eliminated the plug in swing.

Blessings

Though most people realized a plug in swing is not suited for the rain, SOME people could put their kid outside in one of those swings then forget about the automated sprinkler system or the neighbor watering his yard and over shooting the fence, etc, etc.

Also there is the potential of kids climbing out of those things too.

Batteries can be replaced - babies are not replaceable.

THEY DO MAKE PLUG IN SWINGS. They sell them at sears..I cant remember the name but it was also one of the cheapest ones they had on sale there. SO go to sears website or call sears to enquire. I opted for the battery one instead so I could move it around more..but they do make plug in ones.

Actually it would cost them more. if it plugs in to a wall then its going to have to be UL rated. That would cost more. Most merchandise is manufactured to a price point. Or in plain english as cheap as they can make it. Rechargeable batteries are also too exspensive. It might cost them an extra 60 cents

Electricity and babies are not a good idea. They are way too curious, plus, common sense says that most people wouldn't put the swing outside or around pools or bathtubs, but some people are not very bright......
