As long as they are mentally and emotionally mature, anyone can take care of a baby. As they say, age is just a number. There are many people in their mid 30's who are not fit to take care of a baby.

Yes Yes YES!!! I had my first child at 17 alone with nohelp or family, because I was a ward of the state and kicked out of the system at 18. I was determined my son would have a better life, and set about to see that he did. He is now 42 and extremely sucessful with a lovely family of his own. The sisters told me a long time ago that God watches over babies and fools, therefore being one and having the other, I was doubly watched over, and she will be too!!!

Of course she can. If she is willing to step up to the plate, she can be a great mother. I had my daughter when I was 18. Believe it or not I have made it. Lots of teen moms can make it. It takes a strong person to be a good mother; especially if they are a young mom. She will have to hear a bunch of BS from people who are judgemental, but she needs to let that go in one ear and out the other. Babies are hard, I will tell you that; but they are worth every minute of poopy diapers, puke, and ear aches.

Are you asking if a 17-year old can act responsibly in the care of a baby, then I suggest that it depends on the maturity of the 17-year old, the social support network she has in place, her understanding of child development, her temperament and mental health, and that of the baby ('special needs' babies, for example, sometimes demand an extra degree of patience and skill to care for). Refer her to someone who is trained in counseling teen parents.
All the best!

By the oge of 17, she has been mature enough. Every women who has pregnant, must be have sense of mother. Depends on the person, whether she wants it grow or not. But naturally, every mom will learn how to take care of her baby very well (eventhough not perfect). The role of her couple is important also, he has to support her so that she can do it well.

She is 17 and old enough to make a baby so she is definitely old enough to be responsible for this child... with a little help and guidance from her mother.

She is more than capable of taking care of a baby but most kids her age don't want to. It is a lot of work and takes more patience than anything you can imagine but yes her age does not determine her ability to provide a loving, safe home for a baby.

Of Course she can. If she is determined enough then she will find a way. My sister had two kids by her 18th birthday and she's a great mom doing things on her own.

It depends on the person, but to honestly answer the question, she needs to, she had sex and knew the consequences of UNPROTECTED sex. It is her responsibility to be a good parent to that child regardless of her age.
