America is not hated by the rest of the world, I do not know where you have gotten that from. There are though serious concerns in that which is done by certain politicians, frequently in my name!!
Having been a US govt employee, a US afficianado et al, it is time the US woke up to the fact that it HAS to get its act together to make life for all a level playing field.
For starters, the medical system in the US stinks. If you are rich you get help, if poor you die!!!
The French system may not be perfect but its better than the US.
The US kicks the poor in the mouth and then when they do go off the rails they murder them. Yes OK the wrong should be punished, but murder! That sends the wrong signals out to the young and poor. Look at gangs, the US attitude is if you aint in my gang I will hit you, so the little gangs start and then the big gang comes along (the police) and then there is more agro.
There is still body mutilation of infants practised in the US, no person that is intelligent and articulate accepts this as acceptable, that is barbaric.
The summation of just these things means that perhaps the US should be a little inward looking and rectify some of its own faults as well / or instead of trying to sort out others.
We used to have an expression, see if you can complete it.
"People in glass houses should...........

America is hated by the rest of the World because, your politicians try to dictate to everyone else, they go to war to prop up the arms industry and Israel as an outlet for these arms, the continued attitude that we are big enough to do as we like and the attitude that 'we saved you' during the two major wars of the 20th century.

The fact is that while most American people, like those everywhere else, are excellent, kind and friendly, there are also those who do not know where Iraq, England or even China are and because of this the politicians can tell any lie and get away with it.

If I were you I would have your President stop attacking countries where he disagrees with the government, just remember that the problems of Eastern Europe were caused by the war rime leaders and that what ever happened Stalin and Roosevelt out voted Churchill when dividing Europe and thus the Eastern Europeans had 50 years of Russian dictatorship. I would be surprised if they were thanking you for rescuing them from the Nazis.

I don't know if it is really a hatred, but a strong dislike. I have seen the answers of jealousy and they are afraid and almost every other answer you can think of, but don't think that any one answer could be the right one.
I do believe that there is a general perception or misconception of Americans that is held by most foreign countries. A perception or misconception that Americans are rich, we are wasteful, we are intollerant of other cultures and religions, and lastly generally rude people. I am sorry to say that most of these are true.
Most Americans are wasteful people. We will throw something away or let it go to waste because we have something newer, and we throw more food away then we eat.
We are intollerant of other cultures and religions that we are not familiar with, and even with the ones we are familiar with. If something is different, then it is weird. Some Americans think that our way of life is the only good way of life. America is so great and every country sucks compared to us.
Some of the encounters with Americans are either while we are on vacation or while they are on vacation. While we are on vacation, most Americans act as if the people where we are at should be able to speak English and since they don't they are stupid. When a foreign person is on vacation and comes to the U.S. they just happen to land in one of our major cities, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and so on. Most of these major cities do not have the best reputations, or our culture is different than theirs and so we are rude.
America is a very rich country and the majority of the people that live here are very nice and decent people. When they go on vacation, they understand that there are problems communicating with the host nationals and try to learn, the best that anybody can, the language or at least the most common phrases in order to make their stay a pleasant one.
I was in the Navy for 20 years and made 5 trips overseas and lived in Italy for a couple of years. It was hard to learn some of the languages and even though they spoke English in most of the countries, I still made it a point to try and learn some of the language and give it my best try.
America needs to have a facelift done on it and we all need to realize that people are different where ever you go. Even in this country, if you go from New York City to a small farming community, people act differently towards one another. They are more trusting because they get too know you. It is just like going to another country, if you spend a little time and get to know something about the country that you are going to, then you will be alot more tollerant of the people and the culture.
That is a lesson that the entire world need to learn.

Don't take it personally. The American people as individuals are generally great people. It is the right wing fanaticism of your govt that the rest of the world hates. The refusal to listen to others and to act alone or run roughshod over the countries where the poorest people live while espousing some sort of superior morality. These are the things any decent human being hates. The ability of the US govt to talk about fairness, justice, democracy etc when the US itself is becoming less free, less democratic, increasingly poor with huge numbers living below the poverty line. The US can't even sort out these problems at home so how the hell can we believe them when they want to sort out problems abroad?

I'm British and I certainly don't hate Americans or anyone else for that matter :). I work in a company based in London that employ's a lot of Americans and I have always found them incredibly friendly, always willing to help you out and great fun.

I think a lot of this 'let's hate the American's' rubbish has been stirred up by the British Media, which was purely to get back at Bush and Blair's decision to invole both our Nations in a war that none of us wanted, just ask any American they didn't want the war in Iraq anymore than we did.

Let's all give each other a big hug, life is too short XX

In reality, our country has a history of overthrowing democracies, imposing dictators and causing mass death and destruction. But this was always done in secret by the murderous drug dealing thugs of the CIA. NOW, however, our mass killing and disregard for everyone on this planet is arrogantly out in the open.

The emperor has no clothes. Everyone can clearly see now just how brutal and greedy the leaders of our country are

The United States is, in relation to the rest of the world, very isolationist. Think about it: almost every other nation in the world is surrounded by several other nations - the U.S. has Canada (a very similar culture) and Mexico, which most Americans refuse to acknowledge.

In addition, many Americans have a "me first" philosophy; they are concerned only with themselves and no one else. When it comes to other peoples' opinions, these people either disregard them completely or outright mock them. These people generally draw attention from the media or the internet, so people from other nations will see this and (unfortunately) assume most of America is the same way.

Damaging propaganda and/or jealousy and fear. The people of the USA are some of the most kind and generous in the world. Many people also look upon this as a weakness. I have not experienced the hate you speak of when I travel. Of course I stay out of the heavily Islamic countries and parts of Europe.

It sound like a simple question but it's helpful to have a little history knowledge to give
an in depth answer.

Firstly most third world country, including the theocratic Islamic country of today , were influenced by socialism or communism.

Anti-Americanism started right there, with those old ideologies. Developed Country like France, and Canadian province like Quebec still consider American culture and language as a treat. Anti-Americanism hate spread from top to bottom, from developed countries like France and Quebec, who control television and communication in french language, to the poorest north african,middle-eastern countries.
