They will be much more rational and will adopt a "pay as you go" policy as far as federal spending, which includes the military budget. They will not give Bush a blank check for the troops increase he wants to do in Iraq. As for the war, Congress dictates the amount of money Bush is allowed to spend as President. The only way a total new start can occur is by waiting for 2008 elections and vote your conscience. If you think Bush has done a good job, vote Republican. If not, don't.

I'm asking you this question as a liberal and a former Democrat . . . what happens if the Democrats make things worse?

Also, and I'm not saying some "damage" hasn't been caused by the current administration or past Congress, but are you honestly struggling more in life after the last eight years of Republican governmental control? I know I'm not. In fact, I'm better off. But I don't have anyone in government to thank for that.

Isn't it time people stop placing all the blame on the party they don't like, and started accepting responsibility for themselves?

What mess are you referring to? The economy? Hmm, seems the economy has been doing better since the 9/11 attacks. Do you mean employment? Employment seems to be up, peoples paychecks have gone up. Do you mean the middle east? Cause the democrats would rather cower to terrorist and give in to their demands. Hmm what did Clinton do when the U.S.S. Cole was attacked? What did Carter do when Iranians took over the U.S. Embassy in Iran and held captives? From what I've seen in history democrats don't do a lot to stand up for America. A democrat didn't lead the way against Iraq in 1991. It was a Democrat controlled congress that reduced military spending, made a law for the BRAC (Base realignment and closure) Ask those communities affected by BRAC how much it helped their communities.

Not a chance. - even ignoring the war, our reduced standing in the world, and the erosion of our civil liberties, there is the matter of Bush's run away deficit spending. To those who say that the tax cuts had a stimulative effect and were therefore a good thing, I would say so does crack cocaine. No president has ever cut taxes in the middle of war.

The Democrats will do a better job than Bush and his Republican congresss, but it is very unlikely that they will have the courage to propose a prompt rollback of the Bush tax cuts.

What damage are you talking about? To the view of the world of America, perhaps, but would that be in our best interest? To undo the damage done to Iraq, that depends on whose point of view you take. If it is that if the radical Islamics, they don't really care. They want to have the upper hand and to follow what they believe allah wants them to do. That is to kill infidels, like us, even the score for ancestors killed be infidels, again, like us, or becauwse we sided with those who did such deeds, destroy Israel and all who support Israel, again, like us, and the list could go on and on. If you want as near a communistic society as is possible to obtain without disolving our current form of government, then the Democrats are your people. Kindly remeber one very important thing, to ANY politician, you are a source of income from taxes, for the Democrats, to stupid to know how to use your money for the best good of the country so you must be taxed as heavily as possible so that the wealth of the nation can be distributerd properly, in their point of view, no politician will EVER tell you the exact truth. They will only tell you what they believe you want to hear, or modify what they say to gain your support without changing their agenda. They want what they want and they are going to get it, even if it means doing something illegal. There are enough questions about that to keep all investigators busy for the next 200 years, or more. We do have one of the better governments in the world, it just needs all of the complainers to quit complaining and make their point of view known to their governmental representatives.

properly, first, yet another president will take place of work. If that's a Repulican he will sustain with the tax cuts that Bush began and we can enjoy checklist low unemployment costs and costs of activity. If a Democrat wins, we will hear plenty whining from the left as taxes upward push, unemployment rises, and monetary device suffers and of direction it is going to all be Bush's fault.

Of course not. Did Bush take action to put the Clinton Crime Family in jail? Well, don't expect the Dimocrats to get rid of the PATRIOT Act, of the Bush Terrorism Act. They just passed their own version. Dems and Repubs are two crime clubs, or two heads of the same snake.
