Each NBA team has a developemental team. The purpose of this league is to train the future stars of tomorrow or the next day. Basically it's a minor league team for the NBA teams.

The NBA developmental league is called the NBDL and it should be taken seriously seeing as superstars Dwight Howard, and Tracy McGrady paid their dues in this mostly defense league.

Unfortunately, it isn't taken seriously because of the simple fact that very few, very few, players get called up to the Association. It's actually a very easy question to answer. But even still I've never been to a game.

For the players its taken seriously a lot. The NBDL as they call it, is a league for players( who didnt make an nba squad) to improve their game so they can make it big in the NBA. However this is not taken seriously to fans because its like a minor league of the NBA. I think they have some games on NBATV, but i rarely see it.

where players get sent when theyve been cut or released from an NBA team. its like a farm system in baseball. players can be signed if an nba team is short of players due to injury.

Sure it's serious. Go to NBA.com and you'll find a section devoted to the development league, information about teams, players, etc.
