Perhaps because they've been conditioned to believe that their votes don't really count for much which, sad to say, is pretty much true because the BIG MONEY controls the two major parties and those factions control the government--the people be damned!
I'm quite certain that nary a one of them received anything during their education related to President Washington's Farewell Address and the warnings contained therein:
where ``,,,cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People, & to usurp for themselves the reins of Government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.''

no realization of the impact that they can truly have....being jaded by older generations.....thinking what difference can I make?....inability to see the reality of their own future...
