Much of the "news" isn't news at all... What's new about people dying, killing, lying, stealing, cheating, etc...?

The opposite is true otherwise the Watergate burglary would never have forced a sitting President to resign or face Impeachment.

The Pentagon has chronically been trying to under report the situation in Iraq so the American public won't resist the war as much, however the press hasn't let them get away with that.

The end of Desert Storm was not when the US defeated Iraq, because they did not. Instead Desert Storm ended when Colin Powel say images from "The Highway of Death" on CNN..

When Sadam Hussian needed intelligence on the US his best source was CNN.

President Bush Junior didn't lose his support for the war until the American public started seeing the carnage on their TV. The Congress supported him, but as the tide of public opinion changed so did they.

When Congressman Foley was found to have made gay propositions to former congressional pages, those in charge of Congress and the page program didn't mind too much. However, when the news was leaked to the press it forced the Congressman to resign and flee into rehab.

The American Press considers itself to be the 4th Estate. In our legal system the Executive Branch controls the power, the Congress gives the power and controls the budget, with the Supreme Court riding as a check to make sure these two other branches don't get out of control. However, they can only decide cases based on constitutional issues. The American Press considers them selves to be almost the 4th branch of Government. It is their job, NO THERE DUTY to report on politics and make sure that all of government's dirty little secrets come out.

The American Press do this so much that they created the Tabloids and the paparazzi (Italian for mosquitoes first coined after the movie “La Dolce Vita."). The press's insatiable desire to know and show has turned some of them into almost dogs that hound important or famous people.

In the days of the American Spanish War a lot of the press were no more than "yellow journalists." The Hurst papers (as in Randolph Hurst and Patty Hurst) were the worst at this. The major reason the US entered the war was the sinking of the Main, which now days is considered to have fallen to a coal bunker explosion rather than a Spanish Mine. The Hurst papers made sure to paint the Spanish in a bad light and to blame them for the sinking of the naval ship the Maine. The US entered the war because the press shaped public opinion to force the government into war. Randolph Hurst was proud of what he did, because war sells papers. That's how powerful the American Press is (Cosmopolitan is a Hurst Magazine).

I don't know that I would say it is to distract us from what is going on but rather not report the fullness of the news that is out there. I believe for a long time now the media has been very bias and reported things in a distorted light. Sometimes I feel this is simply by no other means than omission of the facts rather than falsifying them.

For instance, the media went on and on about never finding WMD's, but they were found. Amazing that a Christian source, CBN, had to be the one to report that. For the most part none of the national medias touched much on it.

In my opinion, regardless of what any of us (military countries fighting in Iraq) do Iraq is going to split into three provinces. Maybe not right away, but I do believe it is on the way.

The media tends to slant to the liberal side and therefor hates our President. If President Bush had made the comment Senator Kerry made about our military men it would still be front page. However, it was allowed to be swept away and out of sight quite easily. That is just one example.

I believe our media is fuelled and funded by liberals and controlled by only a handful of people.
