I was watching Grave Danger 1&2 and his dad calls him Poncho and then Grissom calls Nick that to calm him down...where did the nickname come from?

PS: that is the best episode ever! I had seen it before but wanted to watch it again because it was SOOOOO GOOD! :)

It was an old TV show , but not the Lone Ranger ... It was The Cisco Kid ... Poncho was his sidekick, just like Tonto for the L.R.

In the show, Nick Stokes was nicknamed Poncho by his father because Nick was supposedly a fan of the TV show "The Cisco Kid" (which had Poncho as the chief sidekick to the Cisco Kid) when he was a child.

That is why Gil Grissom calls him by that nickname as a calming influence to Nick when he still has to make even more efforts to safely remove Nick from the booby-trapped grave at the end of that very good episode.

Nicks father called him Poncho as a child becuse Nick used to watch the Lone Ranger alot. As Nick grew up his father continued to call him that as his nick name. Grissom calles him Poncho in "Grave Danger" to calm him down and to help him focus on the situation so that Nick did not freak out as he was running out of air at the time. After ward he said it again so that Nick would listen to his directions on how to get him out without blowing him and everyone else up.
