if gays were just born that way, then that would mean it is genetic. and if it is genetic then potentially scientists could stop anyone from being gay.

People are not turned gay. What an absurd idea.

It's something that is decided before they are born. Whether they are able to be true to themselves and live their lives honestly, or whether they remain trapped pretending to someone they are not is something that is decided much later on.

Since you are not gay, you should simply take the word of those who are gay. You neither need nor merit proof of anything. But, I cannot help but think you already have your mind set on this subject.

I can tell you this no one knows they are gay/lesbian/bi/trans etc til they are older. Perhaps there are a few that know they are such when they are very young. I do not like the labels and they do not mean much to me at all. Some questioned about being gay when they are young and some when they are older. Not any one event or event(s) could make a person GAY at all. If you are going to be gay, you simply do not know this til some point in your life. Recently, there were various research about that were lack in a gay man's brain.

No, I've always been gay. I had a decent, if not perfect, relationship with my mother and a decent father figure. When I became sexually aware, I just happened to like guys. I had a rape attempt on me AFTER a lot of this crap, but it wasn't successful as I fought the bastard off, but it didn't make me "gayer" or anything. And, honestly, how valid a statement is that? Why would someone, after a traumatic experience with someone of the same sex go out and seek MORE of what would remind them of a horrible tragedy in their life?

I don't believe it's true at all. I'm 17 and a Lesbian and I"ve had a perfect young life. I've been a Cheerleader since 10 years old. That's like asking a person, "I heard you've been molested, are you straight?" I don't get it. Just let us Gays, Bi and Trans live our lives.

Some people act gay because it's cool nowadays( I swear it became a trend in this one highscool and you were uncool if you weren't gay). On the most part, gays are born that way. I've known people to be blatantly gay and pretend to be straight for years. Eventually they come out. I swear my boyfriend's best friend is gay, but totally afraid to come out. Good thing my boyfriend doesn't care if he is or not. Luckily, our society became a bit more open minded.

My best friend is gay, and I believe he was turned that way because of his upbringing.

His father treated him like an animal, and an older brother molested him.

One of his friends was forced to wear a dress as a little boy and told repeatedly "you're a cute little girl" because his mother wanted a girl.

I don't think anyone is "born gay". I think it's environment.

No solid scientific evidence exists proving people are born homosexual Beginning in the late 1990s, several scientists who typically search for genetic proof of homosexuality provided evidence to the contrary. They stated that homosexuality is treatable. Here is a little background: In 1973, Dr. Robert Spitzer—an influential psychiatrist—successfully spearheaded an effort to remove homosexuality from the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) list of mental disorders. He asserted that homosexuality could not be changed and, therefore, should not be treated by therapy. To the amazement of many, 28 years later, on May 9, 2001, Dr. Spitzer altered his stance and presented his findings (to the chagrin of many gay activists and pro-gay proponents in the APA) at the annual meeting of the APA in New Orleans. He now acknowledges that some homosexuals can make a substantial shift toward heterosexuality (Life-Changing Study: Report Concludes Homosexuality Changeable,” Citizen Issues Alert, May 9, 2001,vol. 4, no. 28.) Spitzer now contends the homosexuality seems to be caused by early upbringing, notably a cold, distant, or missing father in gay men's lives, and also seems to be partly by choice (in the case of bisexuals, obviously it's a choice!)

Spitzer's reward for this reversal was to recieve deathreats from "Queernation" members.

Somebody try to molest me when I was a kid and it didn't affect me, thank God. I am a Christian so I don't judge them but I don't agree with their way of living. Maybe they repent and go to heaven while I may go to hell, if I think that I am better than them.

Ephesians’ 4:17-24
So I declare and testify in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds; darkened in understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance, because of their hardness of heart, they have become callous and have handed themselves over to licentiousness for the practice of every kind of impurity to excess. That is not how you learned Christ, assuming that you have heard of him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus, that you should put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God's way in righteousness and holiness of truth.

I grew up in a good home and was never molested as a child, or had any tramatic experiences. I believe that I was born gay, and nothing or noone made me that way.

I'm gay. I didn't go through any traumatic childhood. Quite the opposite. I don't know if it's genetic. It certainly was no choice of mine. BUT I don't want to change it...this is who I am.
