What does 'gifted' mean?

u know some people actually are called gifted and stuff... i don't like that b/c i disagree with it; i mean there's a bright person and all but gifted? give me a break. i lost my hope when one day the entire hotel i worked at made a big deal about a 'gifted' girl that was coming to work with us. i got so excited thinking she was gonna be totally weird and amazing to talk to! well, when she came and i personally got to work with her and live in her apartment she was like dumb as a brick! i was so much brighter than her? if she makes straight As and honors classes that's cool but what does society mean by gifted?

I think of "being gifted" as being brilliant in the arts. Society thinks of "being gifted" as doing something very well like school and grades. People in our society really smile and show favor on that kind of thing.

A bright person.. yes is someone who figure most things out very quickly... more like you by the sounds of it...gifted on other hand can mean a person gifted in something/s ie I cannot hammer a nail without hitting my hand nor cut wood in straight line, but man the very first time I cut a gem stone I'm told it is good as the cuts that most people who have been cutting for years as way of life for them. I didn't believe it until I saw the stone they've entered for computation...now that is gifted in cutting gem stones. Oh one more thing I'm also a very good lier(not gifted) but a good...example.

not just in one
