First of all, it's spelled Oprah.

Anyone that has the amount of money she has is going to be scrutinized. It just comes with the territory of being wealthy and famous. Some people thinks she should spend money on one thing while some people thinks she should spend it on the other.

In all actuality, more people love Oprah than hate her.

It's the nature of the beast. It's her money and she should do with it what she pleases. The fact that she DOES use so much of it to help others in need should be highlighted when, sadly, it's downplayed.

Eh, its more tongue-in-cheek more than anything else. We (Americans) are fine. Our standard of living is astronomically higher then that of the majority of Africa's. When people say that in an honest attempt to bash her, you can surmise they have some root issues.

Racism, and facism are to blame.

Most educated and eleesemonsynary people would never say that. Oprah is doing wonderful things in impoverished areas.

I don't give a rat's butt what anyone says...Oprah is absolutely one of the most incredible women/people/role-models of our generation. She's done nothing but work hard, inspire people and share her good fortune. Who else in recent memory can you say that about?

because people are sick of being guilt tripped to death by extremely wealthy celebrities. that's what this whole "africa problem" is about. guilt tripping.

it's very easy for someone who has millions to help the downtrodden. but strip away her fame and wealth and turn her into an average jane that has to work for a living, then let's see how much she cares.

Before she built that school in South Africa, she used to donate to underfunded schools here in the US. She says that she never felt any gratitude from the school kids here. She said that when she asked them what they wanted, they would say things like Nike's and Ipods.

So she decided to build the school in South Africa, where her help would accually be appreciated by the students. I can't say that I blame her.

Because they are close minded; of course she has helped people in this country as well.

Plus they have a problem with her high notes and use of Italian.

Hey, she is helping big time, good for her, I love her, she is generous and kind, came from nothing and built her own life. she gives back to the same, good for her, wish there were more of her out there....good question.

Well to begin, it's Oprah not Opera, I have never personally been to the opera.

Let her do what she wants, good deeds are good no matter where.
