I have an ATI saphire 1300xt (512ddr2 of memory). i would like to get the most out of this card but when i overclock my ram on it to anything higher than 423mhz it glitches up and kinda looks like its stretching the objects but only a couple. at about 450mhz my monitor just turns off and i got to completly restart my computer. is there a reason that setting the ram's clock higher messes it up. and if u wanted to know i use PC-Docter 5 to test it.

You are aware that overclocking causes things to run hotter. So it would appear that at higher than 423 the RAM is running too hot to be stable. This is not surprising since it uses GDDR2, which is notorious for running too hot even at stock speeds, so it is no surprise that you are having these problems when overclocking.

You didn't read the whole article on overclocking did you? Like in a previous answer, you go up by small steps to see where the card begins to get glitchy. You will only get minimal gains by overclocking, however. You seriously need to back off the MHz if your computer is shutting down. Else, you will roast your graphics card...go ahead, touch the heatsink when you are running it that high.

Buy a new (better) card.

you're only suppose to go up by like 5 mhz and see if your computer begins to act up. As soon as it does, began lowering it until it reaches a stable state. You're going to fry your graphics card and your motherboard if you keep this up...

I would assume maybe whatever you're overclocking is overheating or you're power supply ain't sufficient.
