Sine and cosine are both positive in the first quadrant, excluding the endpoints. That interval is (0,π/2).

At 0, sin 0 = 0 is non-negative but not positive.
At π/2, cos(π/2) = 0 is non-negative but not positive.

Both are negative in the third quadrant, excluding the endpoints. That interval is (π,3π/2).
