Ok I recommend not staying anywhere that takes more than 10 hours to get there by plane less than 3 weeks. This recommendation comes from me an experienced traveler. People don't realize how dehydrating flying is. I think they should do more studies on it. I know there will never be enough water for me up in the skies but anyway that aside... A semester is shorter than 2 semesters, I imagine that once you get there you will be able to decide. Why you are already there you know and you may not have other chances to go maybe you know>>>/?? Anyway that aside... I would at least go for a semester because it gives individuals a broader experience base to look at cultures in a new light and very much to appreciate the differences between our own here in america and those abroad. Jet lag is a serious issue with me I don't know why. Now going east from america you will get more jet lag on your return trip. You will have more jetlag going west from america than its return trip. So I would stay for one semester to see if the country is compatible wth you because sometimes things aren't right really. I knew this guy that went to Japan but detested their food and wouldn't succumb to trying anything thing which might have actually been good, so he only ate at mcdonalds in Japan but since their mcdonalds is different he basically starved and was a twig when he returned what a pitiful case he was. Anyway... yeah 1 semester then while there decide!

Recommend like a summer to start and then one semester. If you like it, do another. If not do 2 different countries. Test the water first.
College is a great time to explore, because at that age one is wide open to ideas and people. Go see things. Broaden your horizon definitely.
The best thing to come out of it, may be language learning though. Because it's most substantial/quantifiable element rather than just knowing another culture. Because language and culture behavior is closely linked.
Besides people usually expect that you know the language if you go abroad in non-English speaking countries. Just to let you know what you might encounter when you get back.
It's good for rest of your life.

I would recommend it - I havn't gone on an exchange yet but am heading to the Netherlands in August for a semester and I'm really excited!
You should look into how much it's going to cost you, if your credits can be transferred, and what you're going to miss while you're away.
Also, my friend went to Sweden for 2 semesters at the end of High School, and she said she really enjoyed it, and said if she had to chose again, she would definately still go, however the first six weeks she didnt really like it because she couldn't speak Swedish and it was so different.

It really helps in understanding another culture and broadening your horizon. You can also see how the rest of the world lives. It get you more broad minded.

YES! You'll make memories you'll always treasure and love and miss! Do it. Make sure you do it in a culture you'll enjoy and are already interisted in.
