The Big Ten sent it's best and the SEC sent it's best and we see the result. Total Domination! Nothing more needs to be said. The SEC is the best conference in football. Yes, many times too good for its own good as they are constantly knocking each other out of contention. Granted some years, certain conferences field better teams, but overall the SEC is still the dominant conference. The rest of the country can send their best and the SEC can send theirs and it will be the same result each time, SEC on top. Therefore: Should there be a 4 team playoff: Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, at large, or whatever - to decide who plays the SEC Champ for the National Championship EVERY YEAR?

Sports Illustrated published the same story earlier in the season. This article was not just someone mouthing off. It was backed with stats on number of players taken in the NFL, number of pro bowl players etc etc. Good article and the facts speak for themselves. SEC is the toughest conference to play in. Lets see if your favorite college can do,,, Florida, LSU, Arkansas , Auburn, Tenn back to back... and its not like you have a week of pansy state coming in to play. Every week its a mean fight in the SEC.

That's bull...Georgia, the SEC champ, last year lost in the Sugar
Bowl to a talented Big East champion, West Virginia. What about all those SEC teams that lost in the bowls? Big 10 was a miserable 2-5 in the bowls this season. SEC was 6-3, but Big East was 5-0. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16343161/ is where you can see how the conferences fared. Mountain West and the Western Athletic Conference won a higher percentage of their bowl games than the SEC did. SEC is the second best power conference this season. Look at the alltime records of all schools in 1-A football, and you will see the best football programs are in the Big 10 and Big 12 in terms of the alltime
records. If you want the proof, go here:

No because there are some years, like last year where the SEC champ is clearly not one of the top two teams. When Texas beat USC, those were clearly the best in the nation. A playoff should be introduced where every conference Big-10, Big-12, Pac-10, SEC, ACC, etc. get one automatic bid and the remainder of the tournament is at large. I am talking about one similar to that in Div II or Div III football. That would be the most fair way to determine a national champ.

What? Another sheltered SEC fan. Watch more games than the one your team is playing to get a clue. Check the stats on Big ten SEC bowl games over the past 5-10 years, either way the Big Ten holds the edge against SEC. Educate yourself, every conference has the same argument you try to use of "knocking each other out". By the way, there were 3 match-ups this year, BIG ten 2 wins, SEC 1 win. The overwhelming majority of fans and players want a playoff, won't happen for quite a while, too much money to be passed around for the time being. The whole bowl system is crooked and all about money, why else would Notre Dame get major bowl with their crappy record.
One game doesn't prove a team is better than the other anyway look at the NFL, they play some of the same teams twice and often different results.

I'm all for a playoff system, but I don't believe all conference champions should get a shot. I think the best teams period should be in the playoffs. If your from a smaller conference and proved to earn your way in then great, but this isn't college basketball where all conference champions get an automatic bid. Also, I'm not to crazy about all the traveling for all the teams. I think the higher ranked team should get home field advantage and then have a neutral site game for the championship game. But for any team that didn't make the playoff then by all means those teams should still have there bowl game.

I think its a great idea.... the SEC can handle anything Big-Ten, Pac-Ten, and Big-12 have to offer.

Not quite, but a playoff system would work nevertheless. I already have a plan, and there is a petition to take it to the BCS Committee at this website:
