I personally think this is inferred when she visits him in the closet as well as giving him her one diamond ring at the end. To me, this meant that Bender had found the real Claire and she was giving him the jewel as evidence, memory, and token of what they shared (and what he ultimately helped/gave her). What do you think? Am I nuts?

I'm not sure if it went that far, I think you are supposed to assume that there is something there, based mainly on the kiss. But Allison and Andy exchange tokens too (namely his letter jacket)...I think it mainly symbolic.

She just came to confront him privately and it was her way of showing him that she did care about him and that he did count, as opposed to what Andrew said to him. Later, she gives him her diamond earing because earlier he had made a nasty remark about saying she had everything, so its her way of sharing a piece of herself to him and also telling him that she is much more that just a rich prom queen princess. Now, as for the sex, I like to think they gave their relationship a chance and they both changed for the better and maybe did it later when Claire was ready.

No I don't think that they had sex. Maybe if the movie would have been longer, and they had more time to get together then perhaps it would have developed into that type of relationship. From watching the movie Claire is not the type of person to just run into a physical relationship.

One of my favorite movies EVER ( I can recite almost the whole movie!!)... I see where you could gather that... but I don't think so. 80's movies didn't implicate or leave windows for the imagination like that...
