The average is around 4-6 months. Following the orthopedics advice, doing the excercises and physical therapy all help considerably. Water therapy is an excellent way to recover more quickly, inquire about it sometimes you have to use a little squeek to get better therapy. But the water helps with pain in movement, you can't start it immediately, but as soon as incision heals, etc.
He is younger than most, so he may heal more quickly. My grandmother had hers at 79, it took her 8 months or so. My husbands grandmother had hers much younger she had water therapy as well which made a huge difference. he took about 5 months.
When I had my back surgery there was a lady in water therapy with me that had hers done, she said it really helped and wished she could do all the therapy in water.

The people I have known, which as been three so far personally. Each one was a little different but 3-4 months.
One of the guys needed his done and went out to move pipe on his ranch and zigged when he should have zagged and laid out in the pasture all day until someone came by and herd him yelling for help. Make sure your father uses common sense and takes care of himself after his surgery, and after the healing time.
Get him the foam dilly that goes in between his legs when he sleeps and no water beds. There are gadgets to help him dress himself after the surgery, and to reach things. He should not be on crutches to long. He is still young and everything will go great!

The price of Hip replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
