The details we have sofar are having a costume party reception, a candy buffet, mini pumpkins as placecards and using Halloween-ish dvds (the Crow, Brothers Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, Van Helsing, etc) as table numbers.

What ideas would you suggest or use if you were doing this?

What a fun idea! I would start now with putting together songs that are Halloweenish or spooky. There are enough songs to make at least 6 CD's.

I would also have jack o'lanterns and a fog machine.

bob for apples instead of a bouquet toss?
hired actors dressed as famous ghosties for guests to chat with?

some kind of contest to involve your guests, like trick or treating for entry ballots to a prize draw? give each table a riddle and have guests trick or treat the tables, if they answer the "trick" coreectly, they get an entry to win a "fabulous" prize, such as a pack of scary movies, or a monster sized bag of candy?

Have the confetti as little cobwebs, bats and spiders....Ice cubes in funky colours and shapes.....
