Need Help Gameboy Advance The Sims 2: Pets?

I am trying to get through the part where you have to make a meal for Celina? How do you give it to her? Everytime I make a meal I run it down to her, get close to her to give it to her. It only gives me the option to talk or socialize. But no matter what I do she does not take the meal I made. She just says she's waiting for me to make the meal for her. Then my plate disappears???? I am so stuck. Please tell me my next move.

Please help on the below:

1) How to give Celina her prepared meal?? and 2) Once you purchase furniture, how do you upgrade without having to keep the old furniture??

1 Have cooking skills up to at least 7 get food from fridge take food to counter select prepare food then take food to a stove and select cook meal.then take food to celina and talk she will accept the food.2 go up to the furniture and press the L button then push the select button.
