It isn't based on a serial killer...In the trailer of the film, mention is made of a "serial killer" who has claimed more than 300 victims and "remains at large."
Gustave is a 6-meter-long (20 foot), 1 ton crocodile residing on a river-island near Lake Tanganyika in Burundi, Africa. Gustave was named by Patrice Faye, a French resident of Burundi and animal enthusiast.Television ads for Primeval have Gustave dubbed a "serial killer" and compared to Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer with his non-human status never mentioned except for a brief line where the narrator says, "He's real, but he's not human."

This question has been asked so many times and it's all over a crocdile. Gustave the croc has claimed over 300 lives, the movie is about that and a warlord that tries to interfere with the capture.

Check this site out. It's National Geographic, so its believable. It tells the whole story that Primeval is "based" on.

there is no inspiration for the ill advertised movie. it is about a croc killing people. it is an animal instinct to kill. so the movie is a waste
