Well here's a common solution.
Go to My Computer and right click on properties. System Properties will pop up then click on Hardware then Device Manager and lastly Display Adapters. Your graphic will show under display adapters and you can double click on it to see more details.

Usually you just want to know how much memory your card has, and how fast the transfer rate is. The amount of memory is written on the package or can be easily found at the manufacturer's website. The transfer rate depends on which type of slot you've plugged it in to, such as AGP 8x, PCI, PCI-E...
If you want more info than that, such as framerates, you could probably find some reviews of your product with a search or two.
I've also used Sissandra, as the others have suggested. Pretty useful.

Have you test playing high requirement graphic game before? like battlefield 2, call of duty, halflife 2 and more?? can you see any "lagging"? ok that for real test.
to check your graphic, simply go to dxdiag. go to start and run, type dxdiag, enter now check your graphic card. you want to know how power your graphic card see the manufacture of the card description on the internet.

You have to download Benchmark utilities like Sisandra, and 3D mark install one of them(i prefer 3dmark) and run a test it comes with a inbuild game demo. that punch out last drop of power of GPU.
So download it from www.softpedia.com, or www.3dmark.com.
