anytime you go into the net and use your email address to get something free.well they give or sell your address to others, and so on.so it's best not to go looking for all the free goodies. If it come's to you in bulk mail just delete it,don't read it,that's a good way to get a virus.Just mark them as spam and set your spam filter.

Spammers send out mail the same way paper junk mailers do . . .
To every conceivable address . . . junk mail just went electronic and you can't stop it any more than the grocery ads in your mail.
Just click on the spam button of any undesirables & they will be diverted to the bulk / junk / spam folder .
BUT WARNING - last year my official IRS confirmation responses came back in the spam batch . . . maybe because they send out so many SOOOO you need to scan the list before you flush it.

Notice: your profile shows that ANYONE can IM or email you . . .
YOU SET THOSE TO OPEN FOR EVERYONE

No, but it could be listed on your profile. If you EVER signed up for something from a website, they may have sold your email address to another company. Someone could have gotten it from an email that was forwarded to them. It is almost impossible to have a private email address because of these and many other factors.

Doesn't matter much what you do anymore. Spammers will always get you one way or another.

Keep your personal e-mail only for business, school, whatever and use a junk address for signing up with web sites.
