I taught public speaking as a grad student. A speech can do many things, inform people about a subject, persuade people about a topic, entertain people, etc. You need to have a reason for giving the speech. If you were writing a persuasive speech you would state you "thesis" by choosing one side of an argument. When writing a speech you want to begin with an "attention getter" something that will get your audience's attention. This can be a quote from someone, a startling fact or figure (statistics that are extreme) or a bold statement. You will want to support your topic with more information and then finally circle back at the end to address your attention getter. So it comes back full circle, the audience will know it is over.

Ah, I love speeches!
Typically, the teacher will tell you what kind of speech you are to prepare - this is learning after all. If no direction is given (if you think there was no direction, ask to be sure you didn't miss it) I would take that as a free pass to do whatever kind of speech you want. In that case, choose the method that suits you. Do you like speaking informatively? That is, do you enjoy relating the facts of an issue in an unbiased manner that allows your listener to make an independant opinion? Do you like to persuade people? Do you like to present your view on a matter and explain thoughtfully why yours is more correct and complete than any other? If you don't know, think about the conversations you usually have with your friends. Are you always insisting that you're right and then explaining why that is? Do you prefer to just say what you know and not really care if someone decides something you never would on an issue? These cues can lead you in the right direction for a speech you'll be proud to present. Play to your strengths and build on them.
And while delivering your speech, keep a few things in mind. When you have watched someone get up to speak, you hope they're really good, right? After all, you don't want to be sitting in your seat bored to tears and neither does your audience. They WANT you to be excited about your topic and engaging. They are rooting for you to be good and effective.
Also, remember its okay to be scared. Studies show more people fear public speaking than death. Than DEATH. So, select your topic, choose a speech delivery method (persuasive, informative, etc.) practice, practice, practice, practice, then practice some more. Be absolutely certain of the content of your speech and get up and give the people in front of you something to listen to!
Good luck

There are different types of speeches. Examples are dramatic reading, a story about something, a demonstration, an informative speech, and a persuasive speech. If you have a hobby, you could demonstrate how you do something for your hobby. If you have a strong belief about something or someone, you could try to persuade people to see your point of view. Or you could give a speech about something that is going on in the news, or about something or someone that means something special to you in your life.

a speech is sopuse to be like if you were talking to them rather than reading your paper. You do need a theses and need to include your reasons, at least three. Add counter examples to make it better amd eplain your thoughts but dont be so wordy. Look at the audience as much as you can and try to dress out apropiate. Good shirt, or related to your subject.
good luck.
