My boyfriend has a 1991 Cadillac Seville. How hard is it to change the brakes on this kind of car? My dad can do a regular car but wasn't sure about this one. Would it be easier just to buy the parts and take it to a machanic and pay more?

Thanks for the information. I'll just have my dad look at them and see what he can do. He has all the proper equipment but has not worked on a cadillac before.

The brakes are not hard to do at all on that car. Anyone with the proper tools and basic ability can do them!!!

One hint, take a digital photo of the brakes before you remove them. You then know how they are supposed to go back!!!

The front brakes pads on any car are usually pretty easy. I would atleast take the wheel off and take a look at it. Now the back breaks can be a little bit more difficult, especially if they are drums. I don't know for your car specifically, sorry. But like I said I would at least check out the front ones. Just a little side note, if you do change the back ones yourself, make sure you check to see if you need to get the rotors cut. Good Luck

No, you should take the car to a trusted mechanic and have the work done properly. There are "little" things that mean all the difference when doing brakes. The mechanic has the tools, the knowledge and you have a warranty when it is done. When someone pulls in front of you is not the time to wish you had had it done right.

As far as the brakes go, this is a regular car.
Have Dad get it off the ground and have him take a look. If he can't do it he will say so.
